This Specialty Show is held in conjunction with the Northern Alberta Canine Association and subject to all the rules and regulations of that show. Show precincts are as defined by the Northern Alberta Canine Association. Please consult the Northern Alberta Canine Association premium list for Akita judges in the four all-breed shows. The following official classes will be offered for both sexes: JUNIOR PUPPY 6 months but under 9 months SENIOR PUPPY 9 months but under 12 months 12-18 MONTH 12 months but under 18 months CANADIAN BRED For dogs born in Canada, champions in any country are excluded. BRED BY EXHIBITOR For dogs owned and handled in the ring by the breeder. OPEN For all dogs. VETERANS For dogs 7 years of age or over as of the date of the show. These dogs will compete for regular placement and the first place dog will go on to compete for Best of Breed. The winner of the Veterans class will NOT compete for the points, but will go directly into Best of Breed competition. SPECIALS ONLY Dogs which have a recorded CKC registration or Event Registration Number and have attained the required points for championship status.
SEXUALLY ALTERED CLASSES Eligibility for the Altered Classes shall be limited to dogs over 6 months of age which have been spayed or neutered. Two classes will be offered: Altered Male and Altered Female: Classes will be placed first through fourth in both sexes, the first place winner from each class will be declared Winners and the second place winner will be declared Reserve Winners. The Altered Winners Male and the Altered Winners Female will then compete for Best of Breed Altered and Best of Opposite Sex Altered in breed.
The following Non-Regular classes will be offered: Dogs entered in the Non-Regular Classes must be entered in a regular specialty class or for exhibition only. Spayed/neutered dogs may be entered in non-regular classes but must be entered in Exhibition Only or in the official Veterans class. Exhibition Only: All dogs entered in this class shall be listed in the catalogue with the same particulars as dogs entered in regular competitions. Dogs entered in this class may not compete in any Regular class, but may enter and compete in Non-Regular classes and/or Parades Stud Dog and Get: At least two get must accompany the Sire who is entered. The Sire will not be judged only the get. Dam and Progeny: At least two progeny must accompany the Dam who is entered. The Dam will not be judged only the progeny. Award of Merit: One (1) Award of Merit may, at the discretion of the judge, be given for every ten- (10) dogs competing for Best of Breed. Parade of TitleHolders: Dogs entered in the Parade must have completed all the requirements for any CKC recognised title. E.g. CD, TT, CH., WD etc. Parade of Veterans: For all dogs seven years of age or older. Brace: For two dogs (not necessarily the same sex), the property of the same owner. Best Canadian Bred in Specialty: All Canadian-bred dogs NOT directly or indirectly defeated by another Canadian-bred dog shall be entitled to compete for this award.
Sweepstakes Friday May 30, 2008 (after NACA Best in Show) All dogs in the Sweepstakes must also be entered in one of the Regular Official Classes at this Specialty. The following classes will be offered:
Dogs 6 to 9 months Bitches 6 to 9 months Dogs 9 to 12 months Bitches 9 to 12 months Dogs 12 to 18 months Bitches 12 to 18 months The winners of all six classes will compete for Best in Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes. Rosettes will be provided for First through Third place in each class. After 25% has been deducted for expenses, entry money will be divided as follows: First in each class - 25% of entry fee for that class. Second in each class - 10% of entry fee for that class. Third in each class - 5% of entry fee for that class.
A Rosette and 20% will be offered for Best in Sweepstakes. A Rosette and 15% will be offered for Best of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes.
Veteran’s Sweepstakes For dogs and bitches 7 years of age or over on the day of the Speciality. All dogs must be entered in one of the regular breed classes at this Speciality or in Exhibition Only. Spayed and neutered dogs may compete in Veterans' Sweepstakes provided they are also entered in Exhibition Only or the official Veterans class. The following classes will be offered: Dogs 7 to 9 years Bitches 7 to 9 years Dogs 9 to 11 years Bitches 9 to 11 years Dogs 11 years and older Bitches 11 years and older

Tendering of a dishonoured cheque in payment of an entry fee shall be considered non-payment of said fee and is an offence punishable by disciplinary action and cancellation of awards. The owner of the dog entered in this show is entirely responsible for any error in the entering of their dog, regardless of how, or who made the entry. Non Regular Classes Stud Dog & Get: A trophy and rosette will be offered to the Best Stud Dog. Dam & Progeny: A trophy and rosette will be offered to the Best Brood Bitch. Brace: A trophy and rosette will be offered to the Best Brace. Award of Merit: One (1) Award of Merit may, if the judge wishes, be given for every ten (10) dogs competing for Best of Breed. Award of Merit winners will receive a rosette and a medallion. Parade of Title Holders: All dogs in the Parade of Title Holders will receive a Speciality rosette with the name of the dog imprinted on it. Exhibitors are asked to send a typed resume of dogs they enter in this Parade. These resumes will be included in the Speciality Catalogue. Parade of Veterans: All dogs in the Parade of Veterans will receive a Speciality rosette with the name of the dog imprinted on it. Additional Conformation and Obedience Awards: Best of Breed: Akita Drilling is pleased to offer a perpetual trophy for Best of Breed. The trophy will be engraved and retained by them in their archives. Best Canadian Bred in Specialty: The Akita Club of Alberta is pleased to offer a trophy and rosette to the dog awarded Best Canadian Bred in Speciality. Dam and Progeny Honshu Akitas and Satika Kennels are pleased to offer a perpetual trophy in the memory of Mark Davidson. This trophy will be engraved and retained by the above kennels and a keeper trophy will be awarded to the winner. Best Puppy in Breed: Mullen Trucking is pleased to offer a perpetual trophy for Best Puppy in Breed. The trophy will be engraved and retained by them in their archives. Best Veteran In Specialty: Brenda Moench, For Always Kennels is pleased to offer a perpetual trophy in memory of Ch. Karlee’s Black Tie Affair. High in Trial The Akita Club of Alberta is pleased to offer a trophy to the dog achieving the Highest Qualifying Score in Trial at the NACA trial on Saturday May 31, 2008. Agility – The Akita Club of Alberta is pleased to offer a trophy and rosette to the dog achieving the Highest Overall Akita in the Agility competition on Saturday May 31, 2008. First In Each Class – Satika Kennels is pleased to present a prize to the first place winner of every class. Breeder Handler Award: The Akita Club of Alberta is pleased to offer $100 for the highest placing dog that is breeder handled.

************** NOTE******************* There are NO power hook ups, water-fill or dumping facilities available for RV’s for those staying on the grounds. There will be warm water and a grooming table on a cement pad for bathing dogs, there are public washrooms inside the building and port-a-potties placed around the show site.
Those that require power will have to have their own generators or other form of power with them. There will be no benching allowed inside the specialty building.
