Didsbury Akitas- August 2010

The adult male and female were tested  for their ability to be socially acceptable animals within our society and found that they were lacking the tolerance and the ability to adapt.  The Akita Club would like to thank everyone  for taking the time to give these animals every chance to be successful in their tests and for the care and attention to these animals received.  No one likes to make difficult decisions like these, but in consideration of all of the information that  surrounded this situation, this was the best option.

As a society we need to recognize that not all dogs can be saved - either because of their breeding or because of their upbringing and environment, and once dogs act in this manner they can become unstable.

We do believe that raised in different circumstances and environments,  that both of these dogs could have led long and trouble free life.

The puppies will be cared for and socialized by a trusted volunteer and at eight weeks will be entrusted to their new homes.

The Akita Club of Alberta would like to thank everyone who has supported the eight Akitas that were taken into our rescue society.  This was a big undertaking for our club  resources and members. Thank you to all the fabulous adoptive owners that have come forward to give these animals a wonderful forever home and thank you to all the donors who have helped to support the care of these animals.
